In 1993, former Salisbury University student Pamela DeSanto collected folk material. Her project is about herbalism and two women who were seeking to become non-conventional healers ("wise ones"). Her paper recounts the difficulties that these women faced because of the negative image of their practices as well as the variety of concepts they studied (Wiccan studies, reiki, channeling, using crystal, etc.). In addition, Pamela researched and compiled a selection of common remedies from several books. She also included the transcripts of her interviews with her informants, which provide a great deal of details about their beliefs and their stories. Tape and pictures enclosed.
